Gov. Beshear is doing "the tour"; he was in Massachusetts and New Hampshire this weekend meeting with political activists, campaigners, money people, elected officials, and voters. When I look at a candidate for president, there are a few things I like to see. One is how the candidate works the room and their stump speech. C-SPAN did an excellent job of capturing Andy's appearance on the campaign trail, working the crowd and delivering his stump speech.

Check out the video below.

I'd like to note few things Andy does well when working the room: he reads people's name badges, and he is eager to shake the hands of everyone in the room. Before beginning to speak while shaking hands, he looks people in the eyes and is never in a hurry to go on to the next person.

One of the personality traits I look for in candidates is intellectual curiosity. Good candidates are curious about the people and their lives; they ask a lot of questions. They don't talk at people; they talk with people. Andy is very much doing this when working the room.
