-
It's not just a zoning vote, it has financial stakes for Marshfield
-
Marshfield is ineligible for millions of dollars in state grants and discretionary funding
-
Every lawsuit challenging the MBTA Communities Act to date has failed
-
The Planning Board is proposing a location in town that is compliant, but has the highest number of obstacles to construction
-
If Marshfield proposes the district, it can require stricter standards
-
The Attorney General will begin enforcement action against non compliant communities in January of 2026. The state could select a zoning district that would enable a higher number of units to be built
-
The town would have to make up for the loss in state funding within its already tight budget
-
The town can propose a district that is the most difficult to build in, or leave it up to the state to decide when the state's goal is to dramatically increase the supply of new housing

ERIC kELLEY rECALL
You may have heard that the Recall Marshfield campaign, led by Kathy Sullivan and Jackie Little, formally began. The campaign is to remove Eric Kelley from the select board in accordance with Article 8 of the Marshfield Town Charter. I do not agree with Eric on many political issues, but I am always willing to give people elected to office the opportunity to prove themselves. Eric has demonstrated himself unworthy of serving on the select board of Marshfield multiple times over recent months. At this point I am personally supporting the Recall Marshfield Campaign, and I encourage you to do the same.
For many Marshfield residents, the incident on June 30th was the final straw. At the June Selectboard meeting, Eric used his position to unlawfully threaten and undermine Police Chief Phil Tavares.
Police Chief Phil Tavares
Building Commissioner Andrew Stewart
Just recently the town learned that Eric allegedly threatened Building Commissioner Andrew Stewart's employment and interfered with his ability to do his job.
Selectboard member job requirements
My final reason for supporting the Recall Marshfield campaign is that Eric is unable to do the job of being a selectboard member. Eric has been a selectboard member for nearly two years and is unable to perform fundamental job tasks. If you hired an employee and after a month they couldn't do the job, you would fire the employee. Watch any selectboard meeting to see how completely inept he is at running the meeting, which is his primary job function as chair.
There are a lot more details available on the Recall Marshfield campaign website, where you can get additional information and sign up to get involved.
The Marshfield Democratic Town Committee will hold its third annual food drive on Saturday, October 25th, at the public library. Committee members collected over 20 grocery carts of food last year. The committee is looking to outperform last year's donations and would appreciate you contributing non-perishable food items to this drive.
